HEKET

Role: Goddess of birth

Appearance: Frog or a frog-headed woman

Center of worship: Her-wer

Relations with other gods: Khnum (husband)

Heket assisted her husband Khnum with creating a child while it was in its mother's womb. She had the power to give life and was believed to be present at the birth of the child where she assisted as a midwife, supposedly speeding up the last stages of labor. Pregnant women often wore frog-shaped amulets to protect them during childbirth.
